Less Online

I haven’t been on my phone very much lately, let alone properly online. I actually think this might be the least time i’ve spent online in my entire life, which is strange considering how much of my life used to revolve around the internet. My phone also finally started breaking recently, so for now i’m using a very old, cheap second-hand one that can barely do half of what i used to use my other one for, social media especially isn’t very practical on it or sometimes not working at all, although i suppose i don’t particularly need that anyway, the father thinks having less access to everything online is good for me anyway, I’m much less distracted by what everyone else is doing and saying when checking it constantly isn’t even an option. The annoying part is drawing, I haven’t been able to draw digitally nearly as much as i would like, and i do miss it. i've still been drawing traditionally on paper whenever i have the time, so at least i haven’t stopped altogether. hopefully i can get another phone sometime soon and start doing more digital work again, although i’m trying not to use the lack of one as an excuse to stop making things in the meantime.

other than that i’ve still been very busy, i have been helping out here and there when something needs doing, spending a lot of time around the Church, keeping up with physical therapy and generally trying to maintain the routine i’ve gotten into over the summer. Everyone has been checking in on how i’m doing as well, especially with getting back into ordinary things again, and i think having people around who actually notice whether i’m keeping up with things has helped me.

It’s funny, because a year ago the idea of barely being online would probably have made me miserable, now several days can pass before i even realize i haven’t checked something. I don’t think i want to disappear from the internet completely, especially because i still like having somewhere to put my art, talk to my friends online and write things like this, but maybe having it become a smaller part of my life was necessary. For now i’m mostly occupied with what is actually in front of me. Maybe eventually i’ll have a decent phone again too. Until then, this ridiculous thing has to do.
